A. T. ET AL STRING ENSEMBLE

Founded by Alexander Telnikoff in 1998, the ensemble consists of 12 musicians and A.T. himself. All players are of international standard and are experienced orchestra leaders, soloists, and winners of international competitions. A truly cosmopolitan venture, 'A.T. et al' embraces players from Russia, Italy, Ireland, Bulgaria, Canada and the UK.

The group has attracted a number of established or rising performers who have been invited as guest-soloists or regular members. Among them are Susanne Stanzeleit, Yuri Zhislin, Yuri Kalnits, Emil Chitakov, Joshua Fisher, Darragh Morgan, Leonid Kovrigovich, and others. When the repertoire demands, additional musicians and a conductor are brought in.

With all members of the group being soloists in their own right, the ensemble can combine classical and modern repertoire using particular strengths of individual musicians. The repertoire ranges from such highly complex modern compositions as Alfred Schnittke's 'Concerto Grosso No 1' to the well known show-case numbers like Antonio Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons'. The ensemble, though, manages to add its own inimitable touch to even the most often played pieces. Thus, in 'Four Seasons' each concerto is performed by a different soloist, and the program culminates with Alexander Telnikoff playing his own 'Fifth Season'. The diverse repertoire draws attention of both the general audience and those specifically interested in contemporary music.

To highlight and explore the creative potential of the ensemble, Alexander Telnikoff has written several compositions specifically for 'A.T. et al', including 'Thought Station', 'Shrapnel Suite', 'Winter Serenade', 'Love, Death and Epilogue' and 'I don't need silver, gold nor ornate clothes'.
